ADSEAL ERD-520
Reactive Diluent
1. Product Description
ADSEAL ERD-520 is an n-Butyl Glycidyl Ether (BGE), a mono-functional reactive diluent used to reduce the viscosity of epoxy resin systems. It participates in the curing reaction and becomes chemically incorporated into the epoxy network, leaving no volatile organic residues in the cured film.
ERD-520 is particularly suited for solvent-free, low-viscosity formulations where excellent surface wetting, deep substrate penetration, and reduced application viscosity are required — such as self-levelling floorings, concrete primers, potting compounds, and structural adhesives.

4. Recommended Applications
Self-Levelling Floorings
Significantly reduces mix viscosity for improved flow and self-levelling characteristics in solvent-free floor systems.
Concrete Primers & Penetrating Sealers
Very low viscosity enables deep penetration into concrete pores for superior adhesion and substrate consolidation.
Screeds & Mortars
Enhances workability and improves wetting of aggregate fillers in epoxy mortar systems.
Potting & Encapsulation
Enables ultra-low-viscosity formulations for electronic component encapsulation and casting.
Structural Adhesives
Adjusts rheology for improved gap-filling and substrate wetting in two-component adhesive systems.
Solvent-Free Coatings
Reduces application viscosity without introducing volatile organic compounds into the coating formulation.
5. Usage Guidelines
| Recommended Loading | 5–15 phr (parts per hundred resin), depending on target viscosity and performance requirements. |
| Compatibility | Compatible with standard bisphenol-A and bisphenol-F liquid epoxy resins. Test compatibility before use in novel formulations. |
| Effect on Pot Life | Slight increase in pot life due to dilution effect. Adjust hardener loading accordingly. |
| Effect on Tg | Reduces glass transition temperature (Tg) proportionally to loading. Keep loading ≤ 10 phr for structural applications requiring high Tg. |
| Mixing | Add ERD-520 to the epoxy resin component (Part A) and mix thoroughly before adding the hardener. |
| Processing Temperature | 15–35 °C recommended for optimal flow and cure. |
